Instructions to the NAET Patient before Beginning Treatment
- Patients are encouraged to read Say Good-bye To Illness (or any of the “Say Good-bye” books) by Dr. Devi Nambudripad before beginning treatment. And patients should use The NAET Guidebook in conjunction with NAET treatments.
- A consent form must be signed prior to the onset of NAET treatment with the practitioner.
- Please do not wear any perfume, perfumed powder, strong smelling deodorant, hair spray, or after shave, or eat any strong smelling herbs like raw garlic, etc., when you come to the office for treatments.
- There is absolutely no smoking allowed in or around the office. Please do not where clothes that smell like smoke or paint. Other patients could react to these smells.
- Please wash your hands and rinse your mouth out before treatment. After treatment, rinse your hands with cold water. If unable to wash hands, vigorous rubbing for 30 seconds, interweaving the fingers, is OK.
- Do not exercise for 6 hours after treatment, and no strenuous exercise for 25 hours after treatment.
- Avoid exposure to extreme hot or cold temperature after the treatment.
- Please take a shower before you come for treatment, and wear freshly washed clothes to avoid the smell of herbs, spices, perspiration, etc. from your body or clothes. This can cause irritation and reactions in you and other patients. Please note: there are perfume free detergents and anti-static products.
- After treatment, do not bathe or shower for 6 hours.
- Do not eat or chew gum or candy during treatment.
- Do not cross your hands or feet during the first 20 minutes after treatment.
- Do not read or touch objects during the 20 minutes following stage-1 NAET treatment because contact with other substances during this time period could cause your treatment to fail.
- Wear little or no jewelry when you come for a treatment. Avoid wearing large crystals or large diamonds.
- Remember to check back with the practitioner for the item you treated, after 25 hours (or the avoidance period determined by the practitioner), and at least within 1 week to make sure you have completed the treatment. If you did not complete the treatment, your symptoms due the incomplete treatment may continue for a long time, sometimes for weeks. Eventually the relief from symptoms will wear off, if you do not repeat the treatment for unfinished allergens.
- To insure maximum progress with your treatments, maintain your own treatment and food diary in The NAET Guidebook in the section for record keeping in the book.
- You may need to take extra precaution when you are treated for environmental substances: minerals mix, metals, water, leather, formaldehyde, fabric, wood, mold, mercury, newspaper, marker ink, chemicals, flowers, perfume, etc. Apart from staying away from the item, you may also need to wear a mask, gloves, socks and shoes even to bed, full gowns, scarf, ear plugs, covering on your head, ears, forehead, etc. (during the clearing period), if you are highly sensitive to the allergen.
- Always eat before you come in for treatment. You should not take NAET and acupuncture when you are hungry. If you have a long wait before treatment, bring a snack with you and eat it just before the treatment.
- Do not eat heavy meals after NAET treatment.
- Drink lots of water (at least 4-6 glasses) after NAET or acupuncture treatment to help cleanse the toxins produced during the treatment.
- Please do not stop any treatment you are on: medication, therapy, chiropractic adjustments, massages, etc. It is good for your body to have a general body massage before NAET treatments. Massages can help to improve the energy flow through the pathways. If you are taking lots of vitamins and herbs, or any particular drug, you may continue as before, if this is helping you. But when you get treated for the food, containing a particular vitamin, herb, or substance, you may be asked to stop using it for 25 hours (or more, determined by the practitioner) following that particular treatment.
- NAET treatment will not interfere with any other treatment. In fact, if you keep your body free of toxin, accumulation (stool softeners, laxatives, to prevent constipation, and colonics or high enemas once or twice a month to eliminate the toxic buildup), and keeping your system under control with whatever method you are using, NAET treatment will be a lot easier.
- For female patients, NAET treatments are not advisable during the first 3 days of the menstrual cycle.
